Stress-free, value-for-money back-to-school travel sorted with MCard

28 August 2019

By providing simple, great value bus and train travel, MCard can remove some of the stress and cost from the start of the new school year.

All under 19s are entitled to half-fare bus and train travel throughout West Yorkshire. Everyone who looks under 19 will get half-fare bus travel without having to show ID, but if you look older and are requested to provide proof of age, then the Under 16 or 16-18 PhotoCards are easy to order online at www.m-card.co.uk.

Plus, with a smart MCard, young people can make even further savings by uploading money-saving daily, weekly, monthly or termly tickets for bus, or bus and train travel throughout West Yorkshire.

MCard’s MyDay ticket can be bought in multiples of 1, 3, 5 or 10, from £2.50 per day, a weekly costs £10.30 and monthly £37.80 for bus travel throughout West Yorkshire on any operator’s regular services.  Combined countywide bus and rail travel is available through the Under 26 Bus and Rail ticket, which costs £24.50 for a weekly, £91 for a monthly and £275.00 for the Autumn Term.

Joanna Chew, Commercial Development Manager of the West Yorkshire Ticketing Company, a not-for-profit joint venture between West Yorkshire’s bus and rail operators and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, said:

“As a Mum myself, I know that there is a lot to sort out before your kids go back to school for the Autumn term.  And it can be very daunting for both parents and children, especially if they are starting a new school and facing a new journey and routine.

“MCard can help take the stress out of the process by offering value for money and convenience. Whether it’s for travelling to school or a day out with friends or both, there is a ticket to suit everyone – and MCard tickets can be used on all operators’ services in West Yorkshire.”

We’d recommend all parents ensure their child has a blue, smart MCard and that they download our android MCard app to load their MCards with travel.  You can get MCard tickets from other retailers, but personally I prefer to buy my son’s bus travel from the comforts of my armchair!  Parents can find out more about our tickets and where to buy them at www.m-card.co.uk.”
