MCard supports Light Night Leeds volunteers with free bus travel

07 October 2019

Light Night Leeds is the UK’s largest annual arts and light festival, and this year MCard are supporting 250 event volunteers by providing free DaySaver bus tickets to help them travel to and from the event sustainably.

The festival will take place on 10 and 11 October and will see some of Leeds most recognisable indoor and outdoor spaces transformed by artworks and performances from local, national and international artists. The theme for the Light Night this year is ‘Mind, Body and Spirit’ and will see an illuminated parade about dreams and imagination and see 60 free arts events across 11 zones in the City Centre.

If you are attending the event, organisers are encouraging the public to travel by public transport as the city centre will be very busy.  You can plan your journey using wymetro.com journey planning tool to map out your trip to the Light Night Festival by public transport or to just find out more information on bus and train services and disruptions.

Joanna Chew – MCard Commercial Manager, said:

“We were delighted to support this year’s event volunteers who help make the event a great success and help people to get the most out of the festival."

Councillor Lisa Mulherin, Leeds City Council’s executive member for climate change, transport and sustainable development said:

"Getting people and our volunteers to the event easily and cheaply and sustainably is important for us and the bus is a great way to contribute to cleaner air in the city with just one bus removing 75 cars from the road and the pollution they cause.  It made sense to approach MCard to see how we could work together and support this amazing festival.”
